Everyone wants to get the best deal possible when they trade in a car, and there are a few things you can do before you visit the Mazda dealer to help guarantee the best deal possible. Making the car presentable, knowing what it’s worth, and making sure you have all your documents in order will be very helpful when it’s time to trade in your vehicle for a new Mazda.

1. Buff Out Imperfections

Are there any small dents in the car that a little elbow grease will fix? Are there any scratches that you can buff out? Check your car all over and fix any imperfections that you can. Making sure your car looks as fantastic as possible will help you get a great deal when you bring it to the dealership.

2. Make It Shine

Now that all the imperfections are gone, it’s time to make that car shine as if it’s brand-new. Clean it inside and out, top to bottom. Give the outside a nice, fresh coat of wax. While it’s true that dealers can value a car even if there’s a little dirt on it, it makes a better impression to show up with your vehicle all clean and shiny.

3. Gather All the Extras

Did the car come with an SD card/DVD for the navigation system, a spare key fob, or a physical manual? Gather them up and bring them with you. The car’s next owner will need them, and if you don’t bring them to the dealer, then you won’t get as much for your car as you would if you brought all the accessories.

4. Get Your Documents Ready

Make sure you bring your car’s title, registration, loan documents, and maintenance records with you to the dealer. Your dealer will already have your maintenance records on file if this is the dealer you go to for regular service, but it’s a good idea to bring your own copy to make a good impression. Plus, it’s more convenient for the dealer if they can get the records from you instead of going to search for them.

5. Value Your Car

Learn the value of your car, so you can determine whether or not your dealer has made you a good offer. To do this, learn your car’s age, make, model, and mileage. Get online and visit Kelly Blue Book or Edmund’s to figure out your car’s value before you head to the dealer.

Come and trade in your old car at Flood Mazda. We’ll make you a great offer and help you find a new cart that ticks all the right boxes for you.
