Mazda CX-9When it comes to having a vehicle that you can depend on during the winter months, Mazda has a variety of options that will keep you safe on those wet, icy, or snowy days. Here are some Mazda models you may want to try if you are looking for a dependable winter vehicle.

CX-9

The CX-9 is the largest option in the 2019 batch of SUVs that Mazda offers. The Mazda CX-9 has four trim options: Sport, Touring, Grand Touring, and Signature. All the trims come standard with a 2.5-liter SKYACTIV-G engine with dynamic pressure turbo. The engine delivers up to 250 horsepower — depending on the choice of fuel you use — and 310 pound-feet of torque, which is great for traction on any icy roads.

All CX-9 trims come with the option of front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, but you are going to want all-wheel drive if you plan on doing a lot of winter driving. The i-ACTIV AWD system monitors the outside temperature and braking patterns. It then adjusts power to the wheels to give you excellent traction.

The CX-9 also comes with an advanced start system that will warm up your vehicle on those cold days. Other available features include heated front and rear seats, as well as a heated steering wheel.

CX-5

Another excellent option for winter driving is the CX-5. It has five trims: Sport, Touring, Grand Touring, Grand Touring Reserve, and Signature. Trims between the Sport and Grand Touring come with the option between front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

If you want a dependable vehicle on those winter roads, you will probably want to opt for the Grand Touring Reserve or Signature trims. It comes standard with a predictive all-wheel drive and has a SKYACTIV-G engine that gets 186 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque. Higher trims come with the turbo SKYACTIV-G 2.5-liter engine. There is also a diesel option on the Signature trim.

The CX-5 also comes with available options, such as a heated steering wheel, heated seats, and an advanced start system that will help keep you warm on cold days.

Mazda3 Hatchback

If you are looking for an alternative to an SUV for your winter driving, you can try the Mazda3 Hatchback. There are three options available with the hatchback: standard, Preferred Package, and Premium Package. All-wheel drive is optional on the Mazda3, so you can get the traction you want during the winter. The engine is the standard 2.5-liter SKYACTIV-G.

The Mazda 3 also comes with a manual transmission, which can help with traction in the winter as well. This option is only available with front-wheel drive, so you need to decide which option you would prefer in terms of what you want in a winter vehicle. You can get the advanced start and heated front seats with the Mazda3.
