The Mazda 3 hatchback comes in three different trim levels. The entry-level model starts with 18-inch alloy wheels and body-colored power side mirrors, LED headlights, and LED daytime running lights. The hatchback version of the Mazda 3 measures just 175.6 inches making it easy to fit in tight spaces and in your garage. The Premium model has a power-moonroof, and it comes with adaptive headlights.
2. The Power
All of the Mazda 3 Hatchbacks get their power from a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that develops 186 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque. It comes standard with a six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive, but if you choose the Preferred model, you can opt for a six-speed manual transmission. All-wheel drive is an available option with the automatic transmission.
3. The Technology
You’ll get the latest technology in the Mazda 3 Hatchback. An 8.8-inch touch screen display comes standard along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. You’ll also get Bluetooth, two USB ports, HD radio, and an 8-speaker stereo system no matter which model you have. Some of the available upgrades include a 12-speaker Bose stereo system, Sirius XM satellite radio, a navigation system, and a wireless charging pad.
4. The Comfortable Cabin
The Mazda 3 Hatchback may be a compact car, but when you sit inside, it feels like a luxury vehicle. The cloth upholstery in the lower-end models is excellent quality, and it looks stylish. Moving up through the trims gets you leatherette on the seats, while the top-level trim comes with genuine leather. There are soft-touch materials all through the cabin, and the gauges have cool white lighting to illuminate them.
The driver’s seat is comfortable with a nice snug fit to keep you in place. You can also add power-adjustable, heated seats in the front, and a driver’s seat with memory settings. In the back, the trunk offers 20 cubic feet of cargo space with the seats up, and this can expand to 41.1 cubic feet if you fold the rear seats down.
5. The Safety Features
This compact hatchback comes with a long list of standard and optional safety features. All models have a rearview camera, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, automatic high-beam headlights, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, and lane-keeping assist. All trims also have an adaptive cruise control system with stop-and-go, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and a driver drowsiness monitor.
A head-up display is an available option for the highest trim.
