Being this close to the water gives you no excuse not to visit each and every one of these places, considering the food nearly comes right from your own backyard. Here are the best places for seafood around Wakefield. You will be happier than a clam when you get the chance to try them out.

Benny’s Clam Shack

At Benny’s Clam Shack you can find great local seafood at fair prices. They have fried fish-n-chips, fish tacos, and chowder. You can also get burgers, chicken sandwiches, and wings if you’re craving something to go with your seafood. You’ll find Benny’s at 58 High Street, close by South Kingstown. 

Coast Guard House

At the Coast Guard House, you’ll find a spacious, comfortable dining room and some of the best fresh seafood in town. They offer lunch, brunch, dinner, and drinks. On their brunch menu, you will find their Anchor Platter with six oysters, six littlenecks, and two shrimp, or Crab & The Egg with is a poached egg, lump crab cake, cilantro chili relish, griddled brioche, and a side salad. For lunch, try their raw bar with oysters, clams, shrimp, and more. Their dinner entrees include such delicacies as swordfish, steamed lobster, and their Georges Bank scallops.

Find the Coast Guard House at 40 Ocean Drive in Narragansett. They are open from 11:30 a.m. to midnight Tuesday through Saturday and until 11 p.m. on Monday. On Sunday they are open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Matunuck Oyster Bar

Matunuck Oyster Bar is a local restaurant known for the freshest food around, served up with delicious sides. Their Raw Bar includes oysters, caviar, shrimp, clams, and lobster. For appetizers, you should definitely taste the Scallop Ceviche with peppers, red onion, cilantro, citrus and grapefruit chili oil with wonton chips. Cooked shellfish include their Oyster Rockefeller, six fried oysters with Pernod, spinach, breadcrumbs, bacon, and herbs. They also have their Clams Casino, which is eight Rhode Island littlenecks with a buttery topping with bacon and breadcrumbs. Matunuck Oyster Bar is located at 629 Succotash Road in Wakefield.

Mariner Grille

The Mariner Grille is a cozy, warm restaurant with a full menu and sometimes even live music. Start your meal off Scallops & Bacon with seared scallops, crispy pork belly, apple, and chipotle aioli or the Calamari drizzled with Garlic Aioli and Hot Pepper Rings. They also offer stuffed clams, Portuguese clams, and crispy fish tacos. They have entrees including the Lobster & Steak with your choice of stuffed or boiled lobster, Fisherman’s Scampi with scallops, clams, shrimp, scallions, tomatoes, and linguine, or Baked Stuffed Shrimp. Choose from sides such as their Mariner smashed potatoes, asparagus, or the lemon-basil risotto. The Mariner Grille is located at 140 Point Judith Road in Narragansett.
