The Sport

The entry-level Sport trim comes with 16-inch alloy wheels, power-adjustable side door mirrors, a sport-tuned suspension, and front and rear stabilizer bars. The Sport has a manual soft top, a glass rear window, and power windows. Inside, you’ll get a 7-inch color touch-screen display, HD radio, a USB port, Bluetooth, and a six-speaker stereo.

The Club

Stepping up to the Club trim adds LED daytime running lights. If you opt for the manual transmission, it comes with Bilstein shocks, an induction sound enhancer, and a limited-slip differential. Choosing the automatic removes these extras. The Club gets 17-inch alloy wheels, a rear lip spoiler, and a front air dam. Added technology features include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, heated seats, and upgraded seating with silver stitching.

The Grand Touring

The Grand Touring has 17-inch alloy wheels with a Dark Silver finish. Automatic headlights come standard, along with an auto-dimming side mirror on the driver’s side and heated mirrors on both sides. Inside, leather upholstery and automatic climate control are standard. You also get heated seats and navigation. The Grand Touring gives drivers the option to upgrade to a red Nappa leather package, which adds red Nappa leather upholstery as well as a few more cabin upgrades. This trim is also available with Mazda’s new gray cloth soft top package.

Extra tech in the Grand Touring includes SiriusXM with a three-year Traffic and Travel Link subscription. This includes information about sports scores, fuel prices, and nearby parking, along with the current traffic and weather.

The Power

All the MX-5 Miatas get their power from a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 181 horsepower. Because the Miata only weighs 2,381 pounds, this is plenty of power to get it up to speed quickly. The manual transmission shifts effortlessly through the gears, and if you opt for the automatic, it has a sporty feel and quick shifts. The soft-top Miatas can go from zero to 60 mph in 5.7 seconds.

The Safety Features

New for 2020, all the MX-5 models have Mazda’s i-Activsense suite. This group of advanced safety features includes forward collision warning, low-speed automatic braking, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-departure warning. All models also have a rearview camera, a tire pressure monitor, electronic traction control, and electronic stability control.
