The new 2021 Mazda3 sedan is the perfect cross between a practical compact car and a luxury vehicle. While its smaller size makes it ideal for city driving, its available features elevate it to the standard or luxury class level. Learn what you can expect when you choose the 2021 Mazda3 sedan.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The 2021 Mazda3's seven trim levels give you plenty of options to create the perfect vehicle for your needs. Lower trim models 2.0, 2.5 S, and Select include exterior features such as daytime running lights, power side mirrors, and 16- or 18-inch alloy wheels.
The midrange trims, Preferred and Premium, include front grilles in gloss black finish and power sliding-glass moonroofs. The top two trims, 2.5 Turbo and 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus include black 18-inch alloy wheels and an available black rear lip spoiler.
Engine (Power)
You can easily customize your power on the new Mazda3. Mazda offers three engine options, starting with the base 2.0-liter four-cylinder that outputs 155 horsepower. Paired with a standard six-speed automatic transmission, the base engine is plenty powerful, but if you crave more power, higher time levels will give you additional options.
The second engine option, which is available on the upper trims, is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder DOHC with cylinder deactivation, which produces up to 186 horsepower. The final engine option, a 2.5-liter SKYACTIV-G dynamic pressure turbo engine, will give you up to 250 horsepower.
Performance
Even though the Mazda3 looks like a sedan, it handles more like a sports car. The vehicle boasts sharp handling, smooth cornering, and precise steering, making you forget you are riding in a compact car. Good shock absorption allows for a clean ride and great control, even when the road gets a little bumpy. Its size and steering make it easy to maneuver into tight spaces, making it perfect for city driving and parking.
Interior
One of the Mazda3 sedan's biggest surprises is the high quality of its cabin materials, making it more reminiscent of a luxury vehicle. You can choose from cloth and leatherette or genuine leather upholstery on the seats, which come with extra padding to maximize comfort. While the seating space is compact, it's still comfortable enough for adults, and the trunk has ample space to hold a couple of large suitcases and plenty of groceries. The vehicle also has the standard convenience features most commuters and road trippers love, including remote keyless entry, push-button start, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto compatibility, Bluetooth, two USBs, a 12-volt outlet, and a backup camera. Opt for one of the top three trims to gain a premium 12-speaker Bose stereo.
Safety Features
Safety is one of Mazda's top priorities, and it shows in the Mazda3 sedan. All trim levels feature an advanced airbag system, complete with dual front, front-seat-mounted side-impact, and knee airbags. The vehicle also features a variety of driver assistance features, including driver attention alert, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, traffic sign recognition, and adaptive front lighting system.
