2020 Mazda CX-5 vs 2020 Ford Escape in Wakefield, RI

Mazda and Ford both produce great small crossover SUVs with plenty of power, features, and convenience. Let's compare the 2020 Mazda CX-5 and the 2020 Ford Escape to see which one is the better choice for drivers overall.

Power and Performance

When it comes to engine power, the Mazda CX-5 has it locked down. This SUV is driven by a 2.5-liter inline-four which delivers 187 horsepower and 320 pound-feet of torque, impressive stats for a vehicle of its class. The Escape, by comparison, has a 1.5-liter turbo three-cylinder which gets just 181 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque.

Safety

The CX-5 also boasts a number of safety features that don't exist on the Ford Escape. For example, the CX-5 features headrests that are specially designed to reduce whiplash in an accident. It also has a 360-degree surround-view camera. Neither of these features are available on the latest Ford Escape. It's also worth noting that the CX-5 gained the IIHS Top Safety Pick Plus rating, a true mark of quality.

Convenience and Space

When it comes to interior dimensions and convenience, again, the CX comes out on top. It features two more inches of hip room and nearly an inch more legroom in the back than the Escape does. It also features rear reclining seats. Best of all, it has push-button folding back seats to expand cargo space. The Escape doesn't have reclining rear seats and folding them down for cargo space is manual.

Our Winner

It's clear that the Mazda CX-5 is the better choice. Test drive one today at your local dealership!
