2019 Mazda Mazda6

There are five different trim levels to choose from with the 2019 Mazda6. The base trim is the Sport which has 17-inch wheels and automatic LED headlights. The Touring trim adds gray painted 19-inch wheels and automatic windshield wipers, while the Grand Touring adds an auto-dimming driver's side mirror and heated side mirrors. The new Grand Touring Reserve trim has upgraded LED exterior lighting, silver 19-inch wheels, and it comes with a sporty rear spoiler. Bumping up to the high-end Signature model will get you a gunmetal front grille and premium interior upgrades.

The base engine in the Mazda6 is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that gets 187 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque. The Grand Touring and above get some extra power from a 2.5-liter turbo four-cylinder engine that generates 250 horsepower and 227 pound-feet of torque with non-premium gas and 310 horsepower if you fill it up with premium. Both engines have a six-speed automatic transmission and come with front-wheel drive.

Both of the engines give the Mazda6 plenty of power, but the turbo four-cylinder gives it the extra push for drivers who like a more energetic feel behind the wheel. The turbo engine will also accelerate at a brisker pace for when you want to pass on the highway or get going after a stop. Mazda's G-Vectoring Control Plus now comes standard and will automatically make adjustments to the engine power and braking to make the ride smoother. This system helps smooth out the ride when making lane changes or sudden evasive moves.

This premium sedan will seat up to five people with cloth upholstery in the lower-end trims and synthetic leather and premium genuine leather become standard as you move up through the lineup. You can also get heated and ventilated seats up front, heated rear seats, and a heated steering wheel, depending on the trim. In the back, the trunk has 14.7 cubic feet of storage space, which is a good size for this class of vehicle. The Signature trim adds premium features such as upgraded leather, LED interior lighting, and wood trim.

Standard technology starts with an 8-inch touch screen display, smartphone integration through Aha and Stitcher, Bluetooth, a USB port, and HD radio. The Touring trim adds Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and extra USB ports in the back.

For standard safety technology, you'll get a rearview camera, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and the i-Activesence package. This comes with forward collision warning, an automatic emergency braking system, lane departure alert, lane keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control.
